Academic reports are used to create your student’s semester reports. School Bytes gives you control of your academic reports, allowing you to create your own reporting periods complete with customisable grading systems and flexibility with student subjects. Our reporting periods are created step by step, making the set-up process easy and the marking efficient.
This guide contains links to step-by-step guides to help you in setting up and navigating this module.
Staff roles will need to be assigned to give staff appropriate access to School Bytes modules. For detailed steps follow the guide: Dashboard: Manage staff roles for School Bytes modules
For details of activities that each role can perform follow the guide Academic Reports: Academic reports roles
Configuration
To begin your first semester academic reports, simply start from the top of the menu and work your way down.
This is where you will set up your marking scales, add your subjects, link subjects to roll classes as well as add the optional extras like school activities in your reporting period.
Follow the guides below to begin:
Comments
The comment bank can be set up for ease of report writing, allowing schools to have a bank of approved comments controlled by a leading role in the school, or optionally, allow staff to create their own comment banks. You can also configure global comment banks, incorporating NESA comments tailored to each subject/stage.
Follow the guides below:
Templates
Our report templates are highly customisable, giving schools ultimate control with the layout and using simple information blocks to help build your templates, several different templates can be created and used at once.
To generate a report, a template will need to be created and selected.
Follow the guides below to manage your templates:
Assessments
The assessments area within academic reports is where your staff will start writing their student reports.
Simply click into a roll class to begin. You can draft your reports one student at a time, or one subject at a time.
When writing your report comments, Chrome's built in spell checker will ensure accurate spelling.
You have ultimate control for each student, with the ability to easily mark a specific subject as not needed.
Once your reporting periods and templates are set up, you are ready to begin marking your reports.
Follow the guides below to manage your report assessments.
Review
The review process for academic reports should be completed prior to sending the reports to parents and carers. From the review menu, specific staff members can proofread all reports and mark as approved or rejected. If a report is rejected its status will be updated to reflect that the teacher needs to redo the report.
Once staff have completed their reports, the class can be marked as ready for review, and a nominated staff member can review all of them before marking them as complete.
Delivery
Publishing reports has never been easier, simply select the reports and then choose to generate them.
Once a report has been generated you can download them individually or in a batch, then you can choose to attach them to an email or print them. School Bytes also offers you the ability to publish student reports to the parent portal, saving both the school and parents' time.
After the academic reports are completed and reviewed, they will be available to publish in the delivery menu. You must generate the report before sending it to parents and carers here.
