This guide should be followed as part of the guide Configuration: Create the reporting period.
In this section, you will create the subject areas reported on for all year groups. You can manually create subject areas that are specific to your school settings or import the subjects from NESA, when importing the subjects all available outcomes will be imported for the subject at the same time.
Note: Importing the subjects from NESA creates subjects at a stage level. Subjects can be set for a year group or a stage. If you have different objectives/outcomes for each year group, you will need to create a subject for each year group. If you would like to include a subject achievement band calculated for a specific year group, subjects will also need to be created for each year group.

1. Select academic reports, then select configuration.
2. Search for the reporting period.

5. Select create academic reports subject.
6. Enter a name.
7. Optionally select a marking scale.
The marking scales were created in the grades stage.
Multiple scales can be selected.
8. Optionally select any other scales needed.
This option will only be available if the marking scale field has been completed (previous step).
9. Select a year from and year to.
10. Optionally choose to make comments required for this subject.
11. Optionally select to import objectives/outcomes from NESA.
If linking a manual subject to NESA, select the relevant KLA, stage and syllabus.
12. Optionally select link to school group.
13. Select create.
You will be redirected to the academic subject options section.
14. Optionally enter a description.
Optionally select use editor. This will give you access to formatting tools, for example: insert links and images etc.
15. Optionally choose any extras.
Include subject achievement band: If this option is selected the subject achievement band will appear on the final report.
Include subject achievement band options
The achievement band can be grouped by: subject, stage or year group instead of being based off all students in the subject.
1. Select required segment option.
Hide marking scale: If selected the marking scale will not appear on the final report.
Set KLA and stage values: It is important to select this option if the comment bank is to be used for specific subjects and stages. Refer to guide: Manage academic report comments
Allow outcomes to be customised per student: If selected refer to guide: Assessments: Customise student subject objectives/outcomes
Include extended formatting field: If selected an extra comment section (with text editor) will be added to the nominated subject. This option is only available when marking students individually.
Allow N/A for overall subject grade: If selected N/A will appear as a grade option when marking an academic report.
2. Select save.
16. Select add comment.
In the comments section.
17. Add the comment heading.
18. Optionally set a minimum and maximum comment length - hard limit.
The hard limit is the required minimum and/or maximum character count for the comment.
19. Optionally set a minimum and maximum comment length - soft limit.
The soft limit is the acceptable variation from the required character count.
Soft minimum length: set the number in this field to be less than the number set in the hard limit minimum field.
Soft maximum length: set the number in this field to be more than the number set in the hard limit maximum field.
20. Optionally select comment required checkbox.
Selecting this option will make the comments mandatory.
21. Optionally add multiple comments as needed.
22. Select save.
23. Select OK.
24. Optionally select add teacher.
Leave this field blank if roll class teacher is to be used for this subject.
25. Search for and select the teachers name.
26. Optionally add multiple teachers.
27. Select save.
28. Select ok.
29. Select add objective.
In the objectives and outcomes section. For NESA linked courses the objectives will already be available for you to edit as needed.
30. Enter the objective.
31. Select add outcome.
32. Enter the outcome.
33. Optionally add outcomes as needed.

Option - Configure rubric
The rubric feature available in Academic reports is configured using the objectives and outcomes. The rubric allows you to add simple text explaining the levels of achievement for outcomes, which will appear in the report.
1. Select configure rubric.
2. Enter the description text for each outcome.
This text will appear in the report to explain the levels of achieved outcomes.
3. Select save.
4. Select yes.
5. Select OK.
Important - For the rubric text to appear in the report you need to ensure the 'Use subject rubric' option is selected in your academic report template. This template option can be found under 'Student subject and grades table' block type.
37. Select back to reporting period.
38. Optionally add subjects as needed.
39. Optionally select subject order.
40. Drag and drop the subjects into the order of preference.
41. Select save.
42. Select OK.

5. Select Import NESA defaults.
6. Optionally deselect any unwanted KLAs.
By default all KLAs based on school year group will be pre-selected.
7. Select import.
Once the subjects are imported, they will appear in the table so each subject can be reviewed and edited.
8. Search for the subject.
9. Select edit.
10. Edit the details as needed.
11. Select save.
12. Edit the objectives as needed.
13. Select save.
14. Select back to reporting period.
15. Continue to edit subjects until all subjects have details as needed.
