This guide contains set up activities with corresponding links to guides, to assist you in configuring the Assessments module for optimal use.

It is recommended that these set up activities are completed prior to using the Assessments module.

There are 2 assessment sections: Markbook and Progressions, click on the required section below.

Markbook

1. Assign staff roles


Staff roles will need to be assigned to give staff appropriate access to School Bytes modules.

To begin using markbook, there are certain areas that you will need to set up, for example, you must create your markbook, and then add sections to the markbook.

Teachers can add grades to a Markbook, with the option to enter grades using a rubric.

4. Add calculations to a Markbook


You can configure calculations for each section within the markbook, as well as set an overall calculation for the entire markbook. The markbook must be fully graded prior to adding calculations.

Once marked the entire markbook or, individual student markbook report can be exported as a PDF or Excel file.

Progressions

The Progressions module does not require you to set up this module.

3. Assign progressions


Schools can use progressions to record student proficiency in a learning progression. To begin using the assessments module you will be required to create a progression and assign to a student.

4. Mark progressions


Progressions are recorded by using the mark functionality and moving students along the phases of the EAL/D progression in the various language modes.

Once marked, a progressions report can be exported as a PDF or Excel file, including an option to export marked descriptors for students.
